Halloween is over and we turn our attention to Bonfire Night; the time of year when we don’t mind standing in the freezing cold eating and drinking while looking at the sky for a couple of hours.

We’ve picked five of the best fireworks displays & fun family events across the North East this week.

Fireworks at the Fort: Segedunum
Date: 1st November 2018
Time: 4pm start, Fireworks from 6.30pm

Bring your oohs and aahs to fireworks at the fort and see the night sky over the River Tyne light up where the iconic Swan Hunter would launch its ships. As well as the firework extravaganza, why not explore the museum exhibits or have a bite to eat in the cafe before choosing the best spot outside to watch the display at 6.30pm? Families can design and make a firecracker crown in a fun drop-in activity for all the family too before the display.

Fireworks & Funfair Family Race-night at Newcastle Racecourse
Newcastle upon Tyne
Date: 3rd November 2018
Time: Racing 15:45 – 18:50, Fireworks from 8pm
Tickets from £20 adults, £5 children

Get ready for a brilliant evening of racing followed by a spectacular fireworks display at Newcastle Racecourse. Join Newcastle Racecourse for a fantastic evening of All-Weather Championships racing, fireworks and entertainment, in partnership with Heart and Spectrum Fireworks. The funfair for all ages will be available throughout the event. The funfair rides will be chargeable. Book your tickets in advance and save money on the gate price, adult tickets are . Children over 5 years old are chargeable for this event. Children 5 and under are admitted free. There is ample free parking, and free shuttle buses before and after racing to local metro stations; Four Lane Ends and Regent Centre.

Saltwell Park Fireworks 2018
Date: 3rd November 2018
Time: 5pm start, Fireworks 7:30pm

Metro Radio and intu Metrocentre presents Saltwell Park Fireworks 2018
Saturday 3 November sees the return of Metro Radio’s Firework Spectacular sponsored by intu Metrocentre. 2018 is set to be bigger and better than ever… Huge fireworks display, Bonfire, Live music from some of the North East’s best emerging talent, Children’s fairground and MetroGnomes.

North Tyneside Fireworks Display at The Links 2018
Whitley Bay
Date: 4th November 2018
Time: 6pm start, Fireworks 7pm

North Tyneside’s annual fireworks display attracts thousands of people to see a spectacular show overlooking the North Sea off Whitley Bay. There are fairground rides and refreshments from 6pm and the display starts at 7pm, lasting for around 20 minutes. In the event of bad weather, the event will take place the following night.

Ouseburn Community Centre Annual Fireworks
Date: 5th November 2018

On Monday 5 November 2018 the Ouseburn Community Centre Fireworks Display will make its welcomed return to City Stadium (the park at the bottom of Warwick Street, Heaton).
This fantastic event has run for over 30 years. The event is completely free and put by local volunteers who fundraise to pay for it.
Every year it has welcomed thousands of children, their families and other residents from across Heaton and the surrounding areas while continuing to attract bigger crowds’ year on year.
