Never one to stay out of action for long, STACK has lots planned for a great summer Festival of Performing Arts in Newcastle.

The Lonewolf Ice Bar has moved out to make way for a brand new main stage, which opened on the May Bank Holiday weekend.

Performances from the likes of Sonny, Strictly Smoking Big Band and Beyond Madness kicked off STACK’s massive Festival of Performing Arts.

The free entry festival is on for at least nine weeks over the summer, and will be featuring the best of local talent performing.

Top treats for the first month include STACK’s very own comedy evening, Stacks of Comedy (Tuesday 14 May) and a Blues Brothers tribute on Saturday (May 18).

There will also be quizzes, live screenings from Game of Thrones to big sporting action, and special events, including the chance to have a good old sing-a-long ‘Kroud Karaoke’.

A day dedicated to Motown Music will hit the STACK on Saturday 8 June from 1pm. This day will feature all the hits from Hitsville USA featuring two Motown covers bands and a DJ.

And for budding performers to get in on the action, Stack will be having their very own talent search called STACKS of Talent.

STACKS of Talent will start with heats starting early June, and cumulates in the grand final on Saturday 29th June at 5pm with a live band backing any singers who make it to the final

Since opening last year, STACK has constantly kept things fresh, changing the area where the Main Stage will be several times.

First there was the Enchanted Garden gin bar, then the very festive pop-up Hadrian’s Tipi complete with fire pits in the lead up to Christmas.

And then we went from fire to ice when the Lonewolf Ice Bar took up residence for the second half of the winter into Spring.

This latest incarnation of the container village event space is set to make for lots of summer fun, and a great vehicle for promoting local talent.
