On Sunday 26th May the new boutique Everyman Cinema, Newcastle is holding a Bank Holiday Sunday Funday preview of the much-anticipated coming of age comedy, Booksmart, complete with free cocktails served to your seat, prizes, a BFF Polaroid wall and a post-screening quiz.

Booksmart is one of the very first special events at the brand-new Everyman Newcastle during launch month showcasing its innovative lifestyle approach; it’s a fresh original comedy, and an event packed with a whole host of fun, creative touches all making up the perfect Sunday Funday to spend with your BFFs.

The directorial debut of Olivia Wilde (The O.C., House) Booksmart, is an unfiltered comedy telling the story academic overachievers Amy (Kaitlyn Dever) and Molly (Beanie Feldstein) who thought keeping their noses to the grindstone gave them a leg up on their high school peers.

In the film, also featuring Lisa Kudrow and Jason Sudeikis, on the eve of graduation, the best friends suddenly realise that they may have missed out on the special moments of their teenage years. Determined to make up for lost time, the girls decide to cram four years of not-to-be missed fun into one night.

In an ode to the movie’s heroic best buds, the team at Everyman are offering ticket buyers the opportunity to ‘Bring Your BFF’ which means that if you hot-foot it down to the venue in person to book your tickets you get a free one for your best friend; for every ticket purchased at the venue itself, one will be free.*

Guests will also have the chance to ‘Book-Smart for Booksmart’ which means if you select the correct sofa or armchair (we know!) when booking online, you will receive free food and drink from the Spielburger restaurant for the duration of the screening*.

As if that deal isn’t sweet enough, on arrival each and every person in attendance will receive a very lovely and free, that’s right free, Raspberry Candy Fizz, made up of raspberry liqueur, prosecco and candy floss (usually £7.50) to get them in the mood.

Keeping things studious when places are taken in the 78 seat screen, guests will find a notebook and pencil so that they can take notes in preparation for getting your own Straight A’s for the post-screening quiz. This will only seem like a bad idea if you give Zero F’s about £100 Everyman Tab prize on offer to the winner*.

Like making mems with your BFF? So does Everyman! When you leave the screening, whip over to the Polaroid wall, get your photo taken with your pal, pop it up on the wall and let it live long and bring joy to whomever may cast their eye in its deserving direction.

All in all, it’s a lot of not-to-be-missed fun crammed in to one brilliant night (sound familiar?)….it would be smart to book.

Anna Coates, Newcastle Venue Manager says “We’re delighted to have Booksmart as one of our very first special events at Everyman Newcastle; it’s a fresh original comedy, and an event packed with a whole host of fun, creative touches all making up the perfect Sunday Funday to spend with your BFFs.”
