Calling all sandwich enthusiasts – British Sandwich Week is in full swing which means there is no better time to sample some of Newcastle’s best sandwich creations.
The annual awareness week is currently taking place until the 14th of May where everyone is encouraged to celebrate one of the nation’s much loved fast food.
It’s no secret that inhabitants of the city are spoilt for choice on the sandwich front. We’ve made it a little easier for you and compiled a list of the Toon’s tastiest sarnie stops, perfect for commemorating the invention of the sandwich- this week and forever!
1. Kracklin
Kracklin is one of Newcastle’s newest roast meat sandwich shops. This rustic little place provides its visitors with mouth-watering gourmet comfort food. Meat lovers will rejoice at their signature cracking’ pick the ‘Porchetta’ sandwich combined with a side of their ‘kracklin’.

2. Dene’s Deli
The perfect place to stop in and get the goods before a picnic in Jesmond Dene. The sandwich variety is nothing less than impressive and this place is renowned for some of the most creative combinations in the Toon, which is always the best excuse for a return visit.

3. Mr Miggin’s Sandwich and Pie Shop
Mr Miggins boasts mastery of ‘supreme sandwiches’ and pies that are the talk of the Toon. If you’re ever on the A1 it is 100% worth your time to drop in and visit them on West Road. Here you can embark on a love affair with sandwiches you won’t be able to stop talking about.

The queue outside Frankie & Tony’s speaks volumes about their art of sandwich making. On a lunch break or a shopping trip around city centre? Pop into Made Deli which is just a five minute walk from monument.
