Mantra Thai restaurant, which opened just 12 months ago, celebrated their first birthday in style this week, with a host of celebrities and the Mayor and Mayoress of Newcastle.
Mantra Thai restaurant on Forth Banks put on an impressive Thai banquet for over 80 invited guests to thank their loyal clients for their support over the last year.
In just 12 months, the restaurant has welcomed the great, good and famous to its eatery since it opened its doors and there to celebrate with owners Jeab and Sun Ye Prapunwong were the Lord Mayor, Councillor Ian Graham and his Lady Mayoress wife Margaret.
Guests, including Newcastle United’s Steven Taylor, tucked into a delicious, authentic Thai cuisine, whilst starting the celebrations with Thai cocktails, champagne and mocktails. Entertainment on the night was supplied by Moulin Music Management’s talented singer / songwriter Annabel Pattinson and traditional Thai dancers were the order of the day, along with cocktail mixologist Mr. Tor Noparuj.
Steven Taylor, supporting the Ballboys charity, which raises money for the prevention and treatment of testicular cancer was delighted that the guests raised an incredible £900 on the night by running a series of raffles offering everything from show tickets, meals out in some of the regions’ finest restaurants and NUFC signed memorabilia.
Owner Jeab told us the key to their success:” We have a dedicated and loyal team here at Mantra and their attention to detail, Thai smile and putting the hearts in the job is what makes our restaurant stand out from the rest. There is a seriously talented bunch of staff here, who all care about the restaurant and the reputation we have built up. The flowers on the night, Thai dancers and the Thai Khim (dulcimer) players were all done in-house, allowing the staff to show off their additional talents.
Jeab added: “It was an honour for The Lord Mayor and the Lady Mayoress to attend and say a few words, as well as join in with the cocktail making. It really was a wonderful celebration of the success we have all achieved over the last year and it was a pleasure to share the fruits of our labour with our loyal clients.”
The restaurant, although in its infancy, has gone from strength to strength as its reputation for high class Thai food tantalises the taste-buds of the regions’ foodies gaining an impressive five stars from 95% of the reviews carried out.
Jeab concluded: We hope that the restaurant goes from strength to strength over the next 12 months and we all look very much forward to our two year celebration next year, which will be even bigger and better.”
