balletLORENT, one of the UK’s leading contemporary dance companies based in Newcastle upon Tyne, is delighted to be offering children and young people aged 6-13 a unique opportunity this summer to join the company for a week long Summer School at Jesmond United Reformed Church in Newcastle from Monday 15th to Friday 19th August.

Established in 1993 by Artistic Director Liv Lorent (MBE), balletLORENT are the North East’s leading dance company, touring an eclectic range of dance productions for all ages on a national level. The Summer School is being delivered by balletLORENT’s professional dancers who have performed in recent productions Rapunzel and Snow White to much acclaim, and have a vast amount of teaching experience and expertise to share with the children and young people.

Children will be able to take part in dance classes, activities and workshops based on themes from the fairytale Rumpelstiltskin. Children can learn dance and performance skills, as well as make new friends in fun and creative surroundings.

The Summer School will culminate in a free sharing of the week’s activities open to family and friends.

Through balletLORENT’s Dance Summer School, your child will be given an opportunity to complete an Arts Award appropriate to their age. Arts Award inspires young people to grow their arts and leadership talents: it’s creative, valuable and accessible. It deepens engagement with arts and culture, develops both creative and leadership skills, and importantly the Arts Award leads to a national qualification. This part of the Summer School is optional for a small additional cost. For further information please visit: http://www.artsaward.org.uk
