IT was sommelier and spice and all things nice at Angeethi this week as foodies from across the region welcomed the restaurant’s new expertly selected wine menu with an exclusive wine tasting evening with a spicy twist.

Located in the heart of Low Fell, Angeethi’s new wine menu, which has been carefully selected by an expert sommelier, comprises of a variety of red, white, rose and dessert wines, each chosen to complement Angeethi’s range of traditional Indian dishes, creating a marriage between the passionate flavours of wine and Indian cuisine.

As part of the exclusive Spice and Sommelier experience, diners relaxed in the restaurant’s authentic Indian surroundings, whilst being treated to an assortment of eight wines, which highlighted the flavours, spices and complexity of the eight Indian dishes they were paired with.

Angeethi’s team of highly skilled chefs prepared a diverse selection of delicious Indian food, including traditional starters, curries, rices and a dessert, each hand crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

As diners were presented with each individual dish, the sommelier from the restaurant’s wine merchants HB Clark, introduced the accompanying wines, explaining the reasoning behind the pairings, focusing on the key flavours which would stand out on the palette.

Priya Mishra, owner of Angeethi, said: “I’ve always found the wonderful pairing of wine and Indian food to be a match made in heaven and our new expertly selected wine menu allows our flavoursome traditional Indian dishes to be complemented by the perfect accompanying wine.

“We are a traditional Indian family kitchen and we endeavour to deliver the true essence of India through a menu of delicious dishes from various regions of India, catering for all ages and pallets.

“We wanted to create a really unique food and wine experience to launch our new wine menu and the evening was a great success. It was fantastic to see so many new faces in the restaurant; we always enjoy welcoming new and returning diners.
