ON SUNDAY 13 April, platinum-selling 2-tone veterans The Selecter will be holding an exclusive in-store signing in the Dr. Martens Grainger Street store with Pauline Black and Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson. Leading the ska revival, the eight person strong band has been influencing the 2-tone music scene and countless subcultures since the 1980s, recently celebrating their 35thanniversary.
The signing is a one-off addition to the band’s ‘Subculture’ UK tour – a five year milestone since their reunion, which takes place throughout March 2015, including a gig at the O2 Academy in Newcastle later on that evening.
Dr. Martens Newcastle’s Rosemary Lazzario said: “Subcultures and ska have played a huge part in Dr. Martens’ history, joining together free-thinking individuals through music. It will be great to see some of the bands followers come down to the store and make the most of this intimate meet and greet opportunity.”
There will also be an exclusive 20% discount available during the event across the brand new SS15 season including men’s and women’s ranges of footwear, clothing and accessories.
The in-store event is free to attend with entry on a first-come-first-served basis.
