Foxy Hair Extensions, which already has stores across Tyneside, is moving its Intu MetroCentre store from the green mall to a new location in the upper Red Mall, close to House of Fraser on May 9th.
The news also opens up around a dozen stylist and sales assistant positions with Foxy. It comes as a welcome boost to a region with the unwanted record of the highest national unemployment figures – with 104,000 people out of work as on January 2016.
Foxy have already moved in the MetroCentre once due to high sales and interest. Now with record sales and stock levels, lightning is striking twice as they look to upgrade their locale.
And joint owner Simon Fox says it’s testament to how far they have come in such a short amount of time.
“We opened in 2005 and in the 11 years since we started, we’ve gone from just the one store to three and even one of those has had to be moved already due to the demand for stock.
“It’s going to have to be moved again because even the bigger store isn’t big enough for us!”
Foxy specialise in high quality all human hair extensions – a market that is worth an estimate of between £45-£60m a year and a five-year growth of 70% from 2010-2015 so say London-based IBISWorld.
With the increase in stock and interest comes the need for new staff. Foxy are set to create around half a dozen places for stylists and sales assistants. Simon said:
“It’s great to be able to help the region any way we can, and with unemployment being the way it is, it feels even better being able to lend a hand.”
Foxy Hair Extensions stock a wide range of 100% Indian and Russian Remy human hair extensions and aftercare products.
