Excitement is mounting ahead of next month’s Simplyhealth Great North 10K (Sunday 7 July), when more than 5,000 will enjoy a landmark-packed Tyneside route before a memorable grandstand finish on the track at the famous Gateshead International Stadium.
The event attracts a huge field to a spectacular riverside route and a memorable grandstand finish – runners pass under the Tyne Bridge and head along to the Sage Gateshead and BALTIC before bending back along the Quayside and into the stadium. The iconic finish enables participants to experience their own finish line experience with their family and friends watching from the stands.
For many of the big field the riverside 10k is the highlight of their running year possibly their baptism at the distance. In addition, entrants for September’s Simplyhealth Great North 10K Run will test their progress at this local favourite and in particular on the popular Slog on the Tyne uphill section.
Simplyhealth Great North 10K race day – Sunday 7 July – also sees a family-friendly 1 mile run. The Simplyhealth Great North Family Run gives kids the chance to experience their own finish line moment and wear their medals with pride just like the adults.
Whatever your pace and motivation, thousands of runners will share the satisfaction of completing the North East’s biggest 10k running event.
