Loyle Carner unveils his new single ‘Stars & Shards’, which was premiered last night by Annie Mac on Radio 1 as her Hottest Record. ‘Stars & Shards’ will be released on burgeoning label AMF Records, impacting 17th June. On the back of selling out two UK tours, Carner has announced a fresh run of dates including London’s prestigious Koko.
“Loyle Carner is Britain’s most recent new hope in hip hop” – The Fader
Carner’s music is planted at an intersection between the boom-bap of East Coast hip-hop, jazz-inflected portraits of South London, and soulful, laid back poetry; there’s solid, honest and raw sentimentality running through his sound. You get the sense he leaves no door closed, as though he’s inviting the listener in to come in, sit down, have a cup of tea, confess, and work through their problems together. ‘Stars & Shards’ is about one of Carner’s friends who lost their way – it’s brimming with honesty and humble perseverance, it’s a warm bath of studiously relaxed hip-hop and soul.
“Carner combines emotive subject matter with an easy flow” – The Observer
Over the last 12 months Loyle has released a stream of insightful and erudite tracks to critical acclaim including his debut ‘A Little Late’ EP and last single ‘Aint Nothing Changed’ which was added to the BBC Radio 1 ‘In New Music We Trust’ playlist. Carner also made the esteemed BBC Music Sound of 2016 long list; the annual industry poll tipping a selection of artists destined for big things as well as collaborating on tracks with Kiko Bun, Cadenza, Tom Misch and Kate Tempest.
“Expect Loyle Carner to keep killing it ” – NME
