Newcastle has it all mapped out! Julia Gash, head designer and founder of British eco-ethical brand Talented, has created a unique and striking illustration of the city, printed onto an exclusive giftware range.
Multi-award winning, serial entrepreneur and designer, Julia, creates map like illustrations of cities around the world, which incorporate key landmarks and buildings that can be customized to include a specific brand.
Fenwick commissioned Julia to create her vision of the city, which includes iconic heritage buildings and landmarks. The design has been printed onto tote bags, zip purses, ceramic mugs and tea towels.
The charming and unique design is printed onto a sustainable and stylish range of souvenirs, stationery and home wares at BIDBI (Bag It Don’t Bin It), the eco-print factory she has run in Yorkshire for eight years.
Julia’s clever use of line and naïve style of illustration capture a sense of innocence and wonderment gained through discovery. Her signature colours of red, blue and black further infuse the Newcastle design with a sense of patriotic pride and passion. Available in natural, heavy quality canvas, the cool and creative tote bags are adorned with striking red/white/blue webbing handles and come with a super cute “I Love Newcastle” button badge.
Newcastle Cityscape canvas tote bags are available at Fenwick, Newcastle-upon-Tyne priced at under £15.
Julia’s Newcastle Cityscape captures the imagination of tourists and students who fall in love with the city and natives who are naturally proud of their hometown. It is an honest, playful and unique interpretation of the beautiful city that is Newcastle.
Talented is a Yorkshire based, sustainable giftware brand which celebrates the bag as an art form and collaborates with upcoming British artists, designers and print makers on a seasonal rotation. The brand was created by Julia three years ago.
