I love good food and I love all things quirky, so when you find them both together you know you’re onto something a bit special!
“Fresh stone oven baked bases form the foundation for the perfect balance…”
When you enter Prima Pizzeria, situated on Newcastle’s Quayside, you’re greeted with that instantly recognisable Italian herby aroma and the spectacle of a Pizzaiolo expertly spinning a dustbin lid sized Pizza base in his hands.
If this doesn’t grab your attention, then I’m sure an unexpected but not unpleasant rumbling from the ceiling above certainly will.
It’s quite simple; Prima Pizzeria is built within one of the Viaducts which support the main Newcastle intercity rail line. This is not even remotely off putting, in fact the large stone bricked walls give the restaurant a magnificent Cathedral like feel and the subtle rumbling of the trains above reminds you that you’re truly in the heart of the city.
The menu is varied and interesting consisting of the usual Italian favourites plus a range of speciality authentic meat, fish and vegetable dishes. Prima are constantly updating their menus which bombarde their diners with choice.
In my opinion the Pizzas here are as near to perfect as they can be; fresh stone oven baked bases form the foundation for the perfect balance of a subtle sauce complimented with a rich cheese topping. A vast range of additional toppings are available in order for you to treat your pallet to either deliciously simple or complex taste sensations.
The prices are reasonable, the portions are massive, the staff charming and the service is swift.
I would highly recommend you visit Prima Ristorante for lunch, dinner or any occasion.
What more is there to say?
