From the 1st April to the end of the year, The group behind popular new restaurant Thaikhun, will be donating 5p to Thai Children’s Trust for every single portion of Jasmine Rice that they sell in their restaurants.
Along with a scheduled programme of fund raising events in their intu Metrocentre venue, TLG have already begun their mission in their other restaurants which are located up and down the country. Last week the group celebrated Songkran Thai New Year with a fundraiser in Liverpool and raised £600 for the cause.
TLG’s fund raising reached new heights last Saturday when a group of employees successfully hiked up the mighty Mt Snowdon in Wales. Finance Director -Christian Hall also did his bit, when he ran the London Marathon yesterday in aid of Thai Children’s Trust.
From the 3rd May to mid-October an exercise bike will spend a little bit of time in each of the group’s restaurants with the hope that every single employee (and some customers too) will ride this bike for at least 1 mile (whilst making a donation of £1 per mile to Thai Children’s Trust). A total of 7,822 miles on the bike needs to be clocked up as that’s the distance by road from Leeds to Bangkok. When they get to Bangkok (so to speak) they will have raised a crucial £7,822 towards Thai Children’s Trust.
To complete the activities, on 13 September, TLG are doing three restaurant-to-restaurant regional cycle rides as follows: Thaikhun Oxford to Thaikhun Cambridge (90 miles); Chaophraya Glasgow to Chaophraya Edinburgh (60 miles); Chaophraya Leeds to Chaophraya Manchester (60 miles).
