Most people love a bit of retail therapy…However; even the most hardened of shoppers occasionally need some time-out.
Retail giants, John Lewis have introduced healthy food and drink café, Joe & The Juice to their Newcastle store. This new hip and healthy haven offers customers a healthy breather from the riggers of shopping.
Founded in Copenhagen, the concession is situated on the first floor of John Lewis and specialises in healthy food and juices, as well as coffee and sandwiches. The latest opening introduces the brand’s first café in the North East and the ninth venue in the UK. Joe & The Juice operate a number of London and Manchester outlets.
The venue itself is spacious and refined yet practical with the inclusion of charging sockets and free wifi. The décor features subtle colours, low level lighting and pockets of comfy seating areas. The Walls are adorned with blown up photographs of iconic locations featuring subtle Joe & The Juice logos. A chilled out music playlist plays in the background which helps create a tangible, chilled out vibe.
Then there’s the Juice…
You can choose from dozens of juice combinations including breakfast ‘pick me ups,’ protein enriched smoothies and even hangover cures. Each Bespoke juice is prepared in front of you with 100% fresh good stuff. We sampled the 12oz ‘Sports Juice’ (£4.20) – pineapple, passion fruit and apple, and I have to say it was both refreshing and delicious. This juice is definitely worth the squeeze!
Joe & The Juice also offer coffee and sandwiches so we thought we’d give them a try also. Joe’s expert Barista’s make a cup of ‘Joe’ which rivals any coffee house offering in Newcastle.
We also tried a rather unique ‘Joe’s Club’ sandwich (£4.25) which is chicken, avocado and tomato wrapped in authentic Danish rye bread. This was definitely a break from the norm and delicious to boot.
So… next time your in Eldon Square, we highly recommend you pay a visit to John Lewis and discover the ‘chilled out’ sanctuary in the heart of a retail jungle that is, Joe & the Juice.
