Business development manager Paul Burns and unit PA Alice Wheatley have received promotions to senior business development manager and assistant business development manager respectively.
Both Paul and Alice joined The New World Trading Company (NWTC) prior to the launch of the Newcastle venue in December 2014, seeing it grow from strength to strength in that time.
Moving forward, Paul will continue to be responsible for overseeing the site’s marketing and client relations, which includes the social media feeds and creating connections with businesses around the North East.
Building on his role to support the other venues in the group, Paul is now also part of the training programme for new business development managers when they come on board to establish new openings, most recently assisting at Liverpool’s The Club House.
Paul said: “It’s a complete pleasure to be able to do my job for a company that gives so much back to its employees. From day one, chief executive Chris Hill and NWTC put their confidence in me to bring together a loyal following in the city which has been a really refreshing experience, and the tools I’ve been given to do it have been invaluable.
“We’ve got such a strong foundation in place from our staff to our offering, so I’m looking forward to embracing this next step in my career and relishing the challenge. And I love travelling so can’t wait to get out to more of the locations we’re expanding to.”
Alice will manage events and day-to-day operations. She said: “A day in the life at The Botanist is always different so it’s a really exciting place to be. I’ve been witness to a Guinness World Record break for the largest gin tasting, bought and decorated a wheelbarrow for cocktail drops and attended countless awards’ parties!
“It’s such a buzzing environment and we’re constantly planning the next big thing – the latest of which will be revealed very soon. There are so many opportunities and incredible initiatives to get involved in, such as the likes of NE1 Newcastle Restaurant Week and of course NE1 Newcastle Motor Show taking place next month, that we’re spoilt for choice when it comes to making the most of the region’s vibrant dining and nightlife scene.”
The Botanist was recently named the County Winner of Tyne and Wear, North East at The National Pub & Bar Awards 2016.
